The painter and sculptor Hein Wachinger was born in 1947 in Schrobenhausen(Bavaria).
At the end of the 1960s he began to be artistically active. Until 2006 he had a full time job apart from his passion. Since then he has been working as a freelance painter and sculptor.
His favored subjects are surreal landscapes, people, and animals. Lately he has been drawn to myths and legends as well. “My own oneiric images often have an influence on my works”.
“Irony and satire should not be neglected either”, the artist explains about his subjects. For some years now he has been concentrating on working with small hand carved sculptures. Now, these form the most important part of his works of art. In this he always combines the sculpture and the painting not only with the technique but also with the theme.
“I call these creations ‘stage designs’ or ‘showcases’. They are hybrids, painting as well as sculpture, connected inseparably.”
“I want my art to be unique, independent, and distinctive. I try not to be influenced by the contemporary tastes.”
